Welcome to Dixiekatz! We are a small cattery in North Alabama. I am located in Athens, on the Tennessee border. A few years ago my beloved HHP cat Mazey came up missing and after months of searching, with no luck, I decided that she was gone forever. I had lost a member of my family. An animal lover all my life I just hated not having a cat and I decided it was time to get another one.
I started my search on the internet and found this beautiful large cat, the Maine Coon. I read about the breed and looked at pictures and I knew I just had to have one. I found a breeder in Memphis and she had 2 kittens left, a male and a female, both were silver classic tabbies with white. I decided I wanted a male, I was amazed at the size of these cats. We decided we would meet in Nashville and if I got her kitten I could have his mother also, WOW! I set out to get one cat and got two. I was now the very proud owner of a 5 month old male kitten Calicoon Majestic Sebastian and his mom, Hoosiercoons Ariel of Calicoon. I was hooked! I loved everything about these cats, their disposition, their size, their look, everything. They quickly became a part of the family. Sadly, in March 2005 I lost Ariel to Kidney failure.

Calicoon Majestic SebastianI started showing my new kitten a few months later. What an experience that was. I had so much fun, I found a new hobby...it was then I decided I wanted to go into breeding. I set out looking for a breeding pair. I got a female CH Shagcats Maggie May and a few months later I got my male, RW SGC Calicoon Robby. Robby was the Best Maine Coon in the SE Region for the show year 2004-2005. XXX
Our kittens are raised under foot with lots of love. We do not cage our cats! Our kittens receive all vaccinations and regular veterinary check ups before they are placed in their new homes. We are a TICA and CFA registered cattery.
